  Profile of the graduate and targets of education

  The graduate of the doctoral level of university study in the study program Management will sufficiently prepare itself in particular to a future scientific-research and academic activity; however, the graduate may also work as manager in research   and advisory institutions, in multi-national corporations and in other organizations of a various type and sectors, inland and abroad.

  The graduate of the doctoral level of university study in the study program Management:

  • Is qualified to analyze problems and options which are being open in various sectors of the protection of persons and property, propose parts of system and also entire systems in such a manner that they meet requirements and apply the same in an organizational structure dealing with the said areas.
  • Is able to analyze any safety environment, carry out risk and safety analyses and design safety systems, propose and adopt suitable solutions for the protection of persons and property and in any extraordinary situations.
  • Has adopted basic means of the prevention, technology and methods of a solution of crises and the removal of their negative consequences. Is able to perform tasks in the sectors of crises management of the public administration bodies and manufacturing units in the sector of civil protection of the citizens, defense and internal safety and rules in regions, in the environment and in other bodies and organizations engaged in crisis solutions.
  • Is able to make plans, implement and evaluate projects of all sizes, complexity and complications.
  • Is qualified to lead project teams, is able to adjust itself to circumstances and learn sector peculiarities (inputs, processes, outputs) of projects.
  • Is qualified to identify, analyze and evaluate problems and processes in mutual connections in the context of the entire organization and environment, in which he/she is active, is competent to manage complex projects.
  • Is able to harmonize the efforts of working groups with various specialized and interest focus, proposes and implements practical solutions applicable to the entire organization (enterprise, institution).
  • Is professionally prepared to perform managerial functions at the level of top and middle management in all types of enterprises. May also perform the function of a financial agent between an enterprise and financial market institutions and foreign countries, the function of a financial manager of non-profit organizations, in auditor, advisory and broker firms.
  • Has a high level of the creativity and independency in financial decision-making. Has deep knowledge not only from the operative of financial management of enterprises, but also from the area of strategic decision-making from the aspect of economy globalization.
  • Is able to work with complicated information systems in enterprises.
  • Masters and is able to choose and use reasonable scientific methods of the primary and applied research in the sector of the field of study. Has extensive knowledge from numerous sectors of the field of study, which serves to him/her as a basis for the implementation of research and development, formulating the solutions of economic and managerial problems and the generation of new scientific knowledge.
  • Is able, based on targeted, with various ideas; however, a critical research, to formulate challenges for scientific knowledge, identify scientific problems, formulate research questions and derive a research design. Knows primary approaches of scientific work, is able to identify information sources and in the utilization thereof to reasonable apply available information systems.
  • Depending upon the nature of a research problem and research area is able to formulate and scientifically evaluate research theses, formulate, verify research hypotheses and apply, in a reasonable manner, the qualitative or quantitative methods of research. Based on its own findings is able to propose, verify and implement any innovative research procedures.
  • Has an independent, critical, analytical and conceptual thinking, which he/she applies in changing conditions and presents individually the results of research and development before an expert community both in the Slovak Republic and abroad.
  • Thanks to the language competency he/she is able to publish in reputable magazines and conference proceedings registered in international profession databases CCC, WOS, Scopus and others.
  • Reflects in its scientific work any social, scientific and ethical aspects in formulating research targets, interpretations and the general nature of research results. Is able to give its standpoint to current issues, determine a focus of the research, coordinate the work of a research team, apply and transfer any acquired knowledge into the pedagogical process and into practice and also contribute to the development of the economic theory and managerial practice, in both, national and international contexts.
  • Disposes of analytical skills, the ability of a collection and evaluation of data from international databases, utilizes methods of scientific work and relevant software, is able to process analytical materials at a scientific level, evaluate and utilize the same for the development of knowledge in the field.
  • Is profiled as a highly-qualified expert able to work in an academic or international corporate environment with scientific qualification in the area of business and trade. Disposes of deep theoretical knowledge corresponding to international scientific criterions and has complex knowledge about the management of firms in the period of globalization and digitalization.
  • The graduate knows the current trends in both, national and international trade and business, in the area of economic integration, in managerial psychology, its managerial soft skills are highly developed.
  • The graduate can be employed in analytical and specialized workplaces in the sector of business and trade, in financial institutions, scientific-research and academic institutions and in the bodies of public administration with agenda requiring complex solutions of issued by the application of scientific-research approaches.
  • Will support a social progress in the knowledge society, and by its research will contribute to the extension of borderlines of the scientific knowledge through the publication of outputs on both, national and international level.  

  Acquired skills:

  • Mastering of the scientific work, formulating and scientific evaluation of research theses, formulating and verification of research hypotheses, reasonable application of qualitative or quantitative methods of research.
  • Identification of scientific issues, formulating research questions and a derivation of research design.
  • Ability to critically and with a target research relevant information sources, work efficiently with the databases of data and scientific papers in the given area, use the obtained data in theory and in practical applications important for a development of the study program and field.
  • Ability to monitor and in its research work reflect the current trends in areas of the research pertaining to a focus of the study program.

  • Disposes of an independent, critical, analytical and conceptual thinking which he/she applies in dynamically changing conditions.
  • Is able to present and defense the results of research and development in its area before an expert community in Slovakia and abroad.
  • Thanks to the language competency he/she is able to publish the results of its scientific work in reputable magazines and conference proceedings, including those which are registered in selected international profession databases.
  • Is competent to apply the acquired skills and methods of the scientific research individually or in research team/teams, to transfer the acquired results of the research and new knowledge into the pedagogical process and also into the managerial practice.
